A look inside Claude Thomas Salon and Spa

Is Plastic Surgery getting more popular with Men?

More men are opting for cosmetic procedures to rejuvenate their looks and stay competitive in the dating and job markets
Ralph Spencer, A Pennsylvania apple and pear farmer who is 70 years old, is one of an estimated million men in America who had some type of aesthetic surgery done in 2013.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, In the US,  about 10 % of all cosmetic procedures are done on males., . Procedures men choose most often are rhinoplasty (nose jobs), eyelid surgery, face lifts, breast reduction, and liposuction. Their reasons for seeking aesthetic surgery, including rejuvenation and anti-aging procedures, vary from man to man.
Spence, the farmer from PA, decided to get upper and lower eyelid surgery for both practical and cosmetic reasons. He said he'd noticed changes around his eyes, such as drooping lids and puffiness, which concerned him. He wanted to look good for a woman with whom he was in a relationship, but he also found out from his optometrist that these changes were affecting his range of vision.
So, he started looking into plastic surgery. Initially, he considered a full facelift, but he said that he didn't think his whole face had changed enough to warrant that. Instead, he went with work around the eyes.

Because sun exposure is a concern for healing skin after surgery, Spencer scheduled the procedure for late winter, when he would be able to stay indoors, catching up on the paperwork, bookkeeping, and desk duties related to farming through the year. By the time he needed to get back out in the orchards, his eye surgeries were healing well.

Plastic Surgery for Men:
Spencer’s reasons  reflect many of the reasons why  men may want Plastic Surgery. The pressure to be physically appealing to romantic partners and also competitive in a tough job market leads many men to consider cosmetic procedures, he said. The whole emphasis on youth has extended so men want to appear youthful socially a lot longer."
Cosmetic procedures can be a tougher sell for men, in part because they're not as accustomed as women to altering their appearance through makeup and hairstyling.  When men choose to proceed with a procedure a good plastic surgeon should educate men about their options so that they feel more comfortable with their desire for a new  look.
One of the biggest stumbling blocks for patients, though, is gaining a realistic understanding of what to expect and time to heal.. Not giving yourself time to heal can foster fear that your results aren’t going to be what you hoped for, when you simply haven't waited for full healing.
The rule of 6-6-6 which is “Usually for the first six weeks postoperatively, there are natural changes in the body because surgery is an injury, such as swelling, discoloration, and a scar that is more prominent. Over the next six weeks, which gets you to three months out, the body recovers from the insult and stops building scar. And, then at six months, the scar is resolving and you’re on your way.”
Botox for Men:
Botox offers a relatively low cost and commitment option that appeals to a lot of men.
Though women are generally relatively open about their procedures, men are incredibly secretive,. As a result, men opt for cosmetic surgery procedures that are less obvious and for which healing can be carefully scheduled.
An occasional Botox injection to help erase crow’s feet or brow lines, for instance, might be more appealing to men than a total facelift and its attendant longer-term recovery.
Okay Men you want to Seal the Deal on Cosmetic Surgery
If you’re a man interested in a cosmetic procedure,  “do your homework."  Take time to learn about your options, and find the right doctor and/or medical team for you and your needs You’ll also need to do some background research to learn about your plastic surgeon. Look at their board certifications, the number of similar procedures they've done, and patient referrals
Also, feel free (and brave enough!) to talk with others about their experiences to get referrals and ideas. And don't hesitate to take someone with you to initial appointments. More men, than woman frequently come to consultations with their spouse or significant other for support and insight.
. Prices vary depending on geography and the market.  . If you live in a major urban area but have a tight budget, looking for plastic surgery clinics outside of the city center might offer some cost savings, even if you have to travel a bit farther. And once you start talking with the doctor of your choice, you might find that lower-cost options, such as Botox, achieve your goals as well as a higher-priced procedure.
But whatever you opt for, consider cosmetic procedures as an investment.

Fashion & Beauty magazines & Media Mis-Informatioin.

There seems to be quite a bit  mis-information that is being presented by the media, through either print, Magazines and Internet and the media through TV and Internet.
This Mis-information is concerning the fashion and beauty industry.
I am confounded by where and who they are getting their so called expert opinions and or advice.
So "Madame Claude" is going to try to clear up some of this
mis-information and some of this negative PR.

As reported in many medias that
Jennifer Lawrence has a pixie cut.

 This is a pixie cut

This is not a Pixie cut
Jennifer Lawrence new look

When we as stylists (cutists) design a hair cut, we cut or sculpt the hair.
We do not CHOP hair.
In all most all written articles and Media through TV, News or Internet, these  so called experts are using the term chopping off hair when referring to cutting and/or designing any short hairstyle.

The term chopping off hair is never used by the fashion and/or beauty media when they discuss  hair cuts for long hair

only is used when referring to shorter styles.

This is not a Pixie either

Once and for all we do not chop off hair. We are artists and what we do is sculpt hair, we cut hair, we design hair.
We do not ever chop hair.
We leave that for the non-professionals
___________________________________________________________________________________

Now for some more Mis-information regarding other celebrities who have gone shorter with their hair style.

It has been reported that these decisions for the shorter looks was because of over coloring their hair and/or a Brazilian gone bad.

Like all professional fields (Doctors, Attorney, Dentists and yes hair stylists) a well EDUCATED and EXPERIENCED
professional should always be a must, to insure the best possible results.

"Madame Claude" will be addressing the subject of damage to ones hair because of hair coloring.

One can color their hair without creating damage by relying on a well educated and experience stylist first and to listen to the advice and suggestions from that stylist as to what will work best, give you the best looks and what will not create damage to your hair

As for Brazilian Treatments and damage to one hair.
It is not possible with a reputable and certified Keratin treatment to create damage as it is just a clear coating that is on top of and sandwiched in between the hair cuticle. It does not penetrate into the hair shaft nor  alter the hair structure in any way. This treatment can be used on Highly bleached Blondie hair. The only way the hair can get damaged in this treatment is poor technique on the flat ironing.  This would be in the physical act and not in reference to the treatment. Flat ironing techniques should be a given in hair styling by a professional ,,,basic 101.
Again make sure you are partnered with a reputable salon and spa.

See my  previous post on the differences in salons and spas and what makes for professionalism.

I welcome your posts so please feel free to let me know what you think

Also. Please feel free to visit our website for more information on hair color, hair design, keratin treatments, thermal reconditioning, hair extensions, hair loss solutions,  trichotillomania treatment, skin rejuvenation treatments, Injectable, and our Med spa.

Break through in Growing more hair could be right around the corner
But  findings are preliminary, don't amount to cure for baldness yet.

There's new hope for anyone who's bald or balding.  Researchers  are getting closer to the goal of cloning hair cells and coaxing them to grow hair once they're replanted in the scalp.
"We've been able to overcome the first block," said study co-author Angela Christiano, a professor of dermatology and genetics & development at the Center for Human Genetics at Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City.
Right now, the research is in the early stages. Questions about costs and possible side effects remain unanswered, and it's not clear whether the technique will produce the kind of hair that people want in terms of traits like texture.
At issue is the need for a better way to replace hair in people who lose it. It is estimated 50 percent of people over the age of 50  suffer from hair loss
There are drugs to help people with hair loss, but they tend to focus on stimulating existing hair follicles to grow longer hairs, In male-pattern baldness, men still have follicles that grow hair, but they produce "peach fuzz" instead of normal hair.
There are other treatment options, but they're not much better
Surgical methods, mainly hair transplants, really just shuffle existing hair around from the back of head and sides to front of scalp," said Dr. Luis Garza, an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. "The main challenge is to grow a new hair follicle."
This new approach will  help  men  and woman with hair loss.
About 90 percent of women with hair loss are not strong candidates for hair transplantation surgery because of insufficient donor hair," Madame Claude (Claudia). "This breakthrough method offers the possibility of inducing large numbers of hair follicles or rejuvenating existing hair follicles, starting with cells grown from just a few hundred donor hairs. It could make hair transplantation available to individuals with a limited number of follicles, including those with female-pattern hair loss, scarring alopecia and hair loss due to burns."
In the new study seeks to figure out how to take hair cells from the body, clone them and then reinsert them back into the body where they'll grow new hair from new follicles. Christiano stated that The process falls apart because the cells lose the ability to instruct the skin to make new hair, In the new study, researchers found that the cells retain their ability to figure out what to do when the researchers grow the cells upside down. "We don't put genes into them, and they're not manipulated at all," Christiano noted.
The hair cells produced by the process were able to produce new hair in five out of seven donor models of human skin, she said, although there's more work to be done to make them fully develop hair the way they should.
The technique holds potential for more than cosmetic treatments to help people grow new hair. Among other things, the research could ultimately lead to more functional replacement skin for people with scars and burns because the skin would have hair, Christiano said.
Garza praised the research, but emphasized that it is preliminary. "This work helps to climb the mountain, but there are miles to go and more steep terrain ahead," he said.

Until this happens. Because of the expertise of  Claudia Tapp the owner and founder, we at Claude Thomas Salon and Spa has 25 years of experience and expertise in many techniques of hair extensions and hair replacement designed to address any hair issue. We have a vast resource of many different hair manufacturers so we can accommodate every need of our clients.
